Message from our President
Greetings From the President! Having started my second two year term I want to review the accomplishments of the first term: 1. After one of our most successful Corvettes at the Beach shows in 2017 we found oursleves fatigued from the nearly year-round work associated with the show. Consequently we discovered that it would not be possible to round up enough volunteers for a 2018 show. Facing the possibility of no show for the first time in 17 years we opted to contract a portion of the duties- registration, advertising, judging and trophies- to Premium Productions out of St. Pete. They did a wonderful job for us and the trophies were a hit with everyone. For 2019 we are contracting with Premium again. 2. Using Premium Productions and a few other ideas we were able to achieve another of my goals: reducing workloads while having fun. We also moved all of our ticket and shirt sales functions to a shady central location on the show field for more visibility which seems to have worked (and will be further improved). For more of our year-round fun we have added some new destinations for our Corvette Caravans. 3. I appointed a committee to review, update and strengthen our Bylaws which were overwhelmingly accepted by vote of the Membership. 4. We were notified that we would have to pay a considerable fee for the use of our monthly meeting venue, so Vice President Larry Parker and I searched all of Flagler County's sizeable venues and found only one suitable. Negotiations failed, forcing us back to the Hilton where we negotiated a much more affordable contract. We also had to absorb an increase in our storage room fee. As for my '82 Metallic Maroon Corvette, my LS engine is built. Preparations are under way for the install. I replaced many suspension parts resulting in a vastly improved ride and weather gaskets to reduce noise. Having only opened the engine once to replace the intake gaskets I have now exceeded 209,500 miles. Here's hoping for and dedicating to a successful 2019 and beyond!
